After painful 44 years, Spain was the champion of glorious Euro tournament again. They defeated Germany 1-0 with the help of winning goal made by Liverpool striker Fernando Torres in Ernst Happel Stadium. At 33rd minute, Excellent pass by xavi and quick reaction of Torres to the goal lead Spain to be the new Football King in Euro 2008. After France in 1984, Euro 2008 was only the second case in the history of the tournament when the winning team won all matches in the group stage.

Euro 2008 was the 13th edition of UEFA European Football Championship. The draw for the UEFA EURO 2008 qualifying rounds were held at Montreux, Switzerland in January 2006. The Qualification for Euro 2008 began in August 2006 and the tournament was contested by national teams from each of UEFA's member associations excluding Austria and Switzerland, who had automatically qualified for the finals tournament as hosts. It took place in Austria and Switzerland from 7 to 29 June 2008.
A new revised version of Henri Delaunay trophy was designed by Asprey, London with the names of the winning countries carved on the back of the trophy. Winners of the Euro 2008 tournament Spanish team were honored by giving away this new version of Euro Championship trophy. Greece were the defending champions recording the lowest finish in Euro 2008 and aggregating the least amount of prize and points. The official song “can you hear me” was lively performed by the Spanish singer Enrique Iglesias at the closing ceremony of Euro 2008.
